Series Scoring
    - Runners scoring or winning awards in the Brooks Dirt Dog Series must be current USATF members resident in San Diego or Imperial Counties.

 - There is no entry fee for the series (of course, you still must pay to enter the individual races).

 - Runners must complete at least two races in The Brooks Dirt Dog Series plus the appropriate series finale to be eligible for awards.

 - A runner's total score for the series will be the score for the appropriate series finale plus the two best scores in other series races.

 - Highest score wins. Ties will be broken by higher placing in the Championship race.

 - There are three divisions each for men and women: 39 & under, 40-49, 50 & over.

 - A runner's division for the series is determined by his or her age on November 11, 2000. For example, a runner turning 40 on November 1, 2000 would compete as a 40-year-old for series scoring purposes for the entire series, and would use the masters finale as the final scoring race.

 - Scoring for 39 & under and 40-49 will be on a 20-16-13-10-8-6-4-3-2-1 basis.

 - Scoring for 50 & over will be on a 10-7-5-3-2-1 basis.

 - The point value of the series finale is doubled.

 - The races in the series are listed in the series calendar.

 - The series for ages 39 & under will be the first five races (must complete two) plus the series finale, the San Diego USATF Championships November 4.

 - The series for ages 40-49 and 50 & over will be the first six races (must complete two) plus the series finale, the Horno Ridge 10K November 11.

 - Note that the San Diego USATF Championships November 4 will decide open and masters Association champions, but are not the Brooks Dirt Dog Series masters finale.

 - The winners of each of the six divisions in each race will earn Brooks Dirt Dog Series Leader singlets. Recipients are encouraged to wear them at the next race.
